A quick word about rush from our Rush Advisor, Alex Melidis:
Hello everybody! Here is the skinny on Rush Month: The first month of every semester our fraternity has a recruitment process to attain new members to keep our fraternity strong. We take part in student organization festivals, we have mass meetings, and we have a couple of brother events for prospective members to get to know current brothers. This semester we are taking part in two student organization festivals: Winterfest and Professional Fraternity Council Festival. We then have three mass meetings in various areas of campus for those who take interest from the festivals and for students who have heard about us through flyering and the like. After the mass meetings we have three brother events, each standing for a leg of our fraternity's tripod: Scholarship, Leadership, and Fellowship. We do different events every semester to keep things interesting! After the brother events we have speed interviews, these are a quick one-on-one interview between brothers and prospective members, and are a good way to get to know interesting things about each other. The final event is the formal interview. Each prospective member individually goes in front of a panel and talks about skills, qualities and reasons for joining the fraternity. After all this is done, the fraternity votes on each "rushee" and decides whether or not he or she would make a good fit for the fraternity. And voila! That is the rush process. I hope that helped. If anyone has any questions or would like to rush, please don't hesitate to email me: akme@umich.edu.
